Robert K Calhoun

Biography

Major Robert Calhoun transferred to the Australian Regular Army from the Canadian Army in 2003. He completed regimental service with the 1st and 3rd Battalions of the Royal Australian Regiment and served in a training appointment at the Royal Military College, Duntroon. He deployed as a company commander to East Timor in 2007 and returned in 2008 as the Battle Group Operations Officer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major in biology and is currently a student at the Australian Command and Staff College.

As a result of recent outbreaks of COVID-19 in Victoria, authorities are now increasing state border patrols to more thoroughly regulate interstate travellers. Due to these current demands placed on the South Australian Police Force, the government has sought assistance from the Australian Defence Force. In support of SA Police, Australian Defence Force members have been deployed to the South Australian border, helping to man border crossings and control entry points as part of Operation COVID-19 Assist.
