Daniel Pipes
Biography
Dr Daniel Pipes is the Director of the Middle East Forum think-tank, which also publishes the authoritative journal The Middle East Quarterly. He holds a Doctorate from Harvard University and has taught at the University of Chicago, Harvard University and the Naval War College. Dr Pipes has also served in the US Departments of State and Defence. He is the author of twelve books on the Middle East, including four on Islam, and is a regular columnist for the New York Post. He contributes opinion pieces to newspapers such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times. This article is based on a Deputy Chief of Army Occasional Seminar delivered in August 2004 in Canberra.
