Jodie Lording
Biography
Brigadier Jodie Lording CSM is an Australian Army reservist with over 30 years' experience. She has commanded at home and on operations, including deployments to Timor, the Middle East, and Domestic Operations. She also served as the chief logistic planner within a 3-Star Coalition Headquarters. Her civilian career centres on learning and development, human resource management and IT business management, coupled with serving on a number of volunteer boards. Jodie holds numerous academic qualifications in music, education and strategic studies. Her academic interests centre on military sociology, with a particular emphasis on phenomenological methodologies. Her doctoral research examines Army Reserve recruitment and retention in Australia and the United Kingdom, while her most recent postgraduate work explores how diarchal structures are experienced within Defence culture. She was awarded the Secretary and CDF prize at the Defence and Strategic Studies Course in 2024. She is currently Commander of the 5th Brigade.
