David Schmidtchen
Biography
Lieutenant Colonel David Schmidtchen, PhD, is a Senior Military Research Fellow at the LWSC. With Dr Nick Jans he co-authored The Real C-Cubed: Culture, Careers and Climate and How They Affect Capability. He is also the author of Preparing Capable Australian Defence Force Peacekeepers: Principles and Foundations—a study of human resource implications of preparing soldiers to participate in peace operations. In 2004, Lieutenant Colonel Schmidtchen was the Chief of the Defence Force Fellow at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Defence Studies Forum. This paper is drawn from a forthcoming book entitled The Rise of the Strategic Private: Technology, Control and Change in a Network Enabled Military.
