Brian Farrell
Biography
Professor Brian P Farrell is Professor of Military History at the National University of Singapore, where he has been teaching since 1993. His research interests include the military history of the British Empire, the Western military experience in Asia, grand strategy and problems of imperial defence. Major publications include The Basis and Making of British Grand Strategy 1940–1943: Was There a Plan? (1998), The Defence and Fall of Singapore 1940–1942 (2005), From Far East to Asia Pacific: Great Powers and Grand Strategy 1900–1954 (co-edited, 2022), and Misfire: British Empire Special Forces and Defeat in Malaya in the Second World War (2025).
